Grade Point Averages

The following provisions began with students who graduated in 2018. The full policy EIC (Local) is available online at https://pol.tasb.org/PolicyOnline?key=669

Eligible AP, honors, dual credit, and practicum/internship level CTE courses designated in the student handbook shall be categorized as Advanced Academic Courses, and shall receive advanced credit based on the number of academic credits. The College Board has mandated that schools no longer use the Pre-AP prefix for their advanced courses; these courses now have the Honors prefix.

The District shall determine an unweighted GPA for each student using grades from eligible courses. Upon completion of advanced credits, as outlined in the table below, a 1.25 multiplier will be applied to the student’s cumulative GPA.

FIDELITY POINTS

Each student who participates in and completes four years of an eligible course and related extracurricular activity, as applicable, during high school shall be awarded a fidelity point.  A student may substitute a fidelity point for up to two advanced courses.  The list of eligible courses shall be designated in administrative regulations.

**Please note that while academic counselors review student progress toward completion of the 16 advanced academic credits, it is the student’s responsibility to ensure that he/she registers for and successfully completes the required advanced academic credits at each grade level.

ADVANCED ACADEMIC CREDIT COURSE INFORMATION

Advanced Academic Credits (AAC) are tied to the credits earned in the course.  For example, if the course is ½ credit, ½ AAC is earned.  If the course is 1 credit, 1 AAC is earned.

Class Rank | Highest-Ranking Student

The valedictorian and salutatorian will have completed the Foundation Program with Endorsements and have been enrolled in Granbury High School for both their junior and senior years. The senior class will be ranked scholastically at the end of the 5th six weeks. If a tie of two or more students exists for the top places after grades have been averaged, then the tie will be broken according to a procedures outlined in board policy EIC Local. For further information, see policy EIC.

Beginning with students who entered grade 9 in the 2014–15 school year, a new graduation program is in effect. Therefore, class ranking procedures may be adjusted by the district based on the new graduation plan. The district will make the information available to the students affected by these changes.
