Film Festival

Films are all about creativity, imagination, and innovation.  The students at Granbury High School strive to create these original ideas to life through film.

Starting with the 2023-2024 school year, 9-12th grade students will have the opportunity to create a short film in one of 4 different categories: Narrative, Documentary, Traditional Animation, and Digital Animation.  The process to create these films is not an easy task.  The students start with an idea, which transforms into a storyboard concept.  Then scripts are developed to bring the ideas to life, followed by filming the various scenes.  Students then bring that footage into our Adobe Premiere Pro editing software and learn how to make the scenes flow seamlessly.  Some students will even add special effects through Adobe After Effects.

Creating a film is not for the faint of heart and it takes a lot of time, energy, hard work, and sometimes tears to create a beautiful piece that will be watched and judged by strangers.

The top 3 participants in the 1st Annual Granbury Film Festival in each of the four categories will be submitted to the UIL State Film Festival for review and hopefully advancement to the 2024 State Film Festival in Austin, Texas in February 2024.

Deadline for all film submissions is January 10th, 2024.  Please contact [email protected] for more information.
