Grade Point Averages
Eligible AP, honors, dual credit, and practicum/internship level CTE courses designated in the student handbook shall be categorized as Advanced Academic Courses and shall receive advanced credit based on the number of academic credits. The College Board has mandated that schools no longer use the Pre-AP prefix for their advanced courses; these courses now have the Honors prefix.

Upon completion of grade 12, a student who has earned 16 advanced credits shall have a 1.25 multiplier applied to his or her cumulative GPA. A student who has not completed 16 advanced credits shall have his or her GPA reverted to unweighted status.
FIDELITY POINTS
Each student who participates in and completes four years of an eligible course and related extracurricular activity, as applicable, during high school shall be awarded a fidelity point. A student may substitute a fidelity point for up to two advanced courses. The list of eligible courses shall be designated in administrative regulations.
**Please note that while academic counselors review student progress toward completion of the 16 advanced academic credits, it is the student’s responsibility to ensure that he/she registers for and successfully completes the required advanced academic credits at each grade level.
ADVANCED ACADEMIC CREDIT COURSE INFORMATION
Advanced Academic Credits (AAC) are tied to the credits earned in the course. For example, if the course is ½ credit, ½ AAC is earned. If the course is 1 credit, 1 AAC is earned.

FIDELITY POINTS: Additional Advanced Credits/Fidelity Points allowed for comprehensive, competitive extracurricular activity tied to a class (Athletics, Band, Dance, Cheer, Choir, Theatre, Yearbook, Debate, F1 in Schools, Student Council, AVID, etc.). Fidelity points apply only to courses completed in grades 9-12.

Note: The following provisions shall apply to students beginning with the graduating class of 2028.
The District shall include in the calculation of class rank grades earned in all high school credit courses taken in grades 9-12, unless excluded below. The calculation shall include failing grades.
The calculation of class rank shall exclude grades earned in a local credit course; distance learning courses, including correspondence courses; or through credit by examination, with or without prior instruction. Family and Community Services will also be excluded from the calculation of class rank.
Tier 1 courses that are level 4 and 5 for fine arts and athletics shall be excluded from the GPA calculation taken in either the junior or senior year.
Weighted Grade System
The District shall weight eligible courses as Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3, and Tier 4 in accordance with provisions of this policy and as designated in appropriate District publications.
Categories
Tier 4 Eligible Advanced Placement (AP) and dual credit courses shall be categorized and weighted as Tier 4
courses.
Tier 2 Eligible honors courses shall be categorized and weighted as Tier 2 courses.
Tier 1 All other eligible courses shall be categorized and weighted as Tier 1 courses.

The District shall assign weights to semester grades earned in eligible courses in accordance with the following chart and shall calculate a weighted grade point average (GPA):

When a student transfers semester grades for courses that are not offered by the district, students will receive Tier 1 weight and the district shall include the grades in the calculation of class rank.
Transfer grades for Tier 1 courses will receive Tier 1 weight.
When a student transfers semester grades for courses from an accredited school that would be eligible to receive additional weight under the District's weighted grade system, the District shall assign additional weight to the grades based on the categories and grade weight system used by the District only if the same course is offered to the same class of students in the District.
Local Graduation Honors
For the purpose of determining honors to be conferred during graduation activities, the District shall calculate class rank at the end of the fifth six weeks grading period of the senior year.
For the purpose of applications to institutions of higher education, the District shall also calculate class rank as required by state law. The District's eligibility criteria for local graduation honors shall apply only for local recognition and shall not restrict class rank for the purpose of automation admission under state law. Valedictorian and Salutatorian
The valedictorian and salutatorian shall be the eligible students with the highest and second highest rank, respectively. To be eligible for this local graduation honor, a student must:
- Have been continuously enrolled in the District high school for the two full school years immediately preceding graduation;
- Have completed the foundation program with the distinguished level of achievement; and
- Be graduating after exactly eight semesters of enrollment in high school.
