Service Hours

NHS Service Hour Requirements

 
  • You must have 20 service hours per year of membership. Hours will start in the spring of the year before, after the Induction Ceremony. 
  • Senior hours are due by the March Chapter Meeting due to graduation requirements.
  • Junior hours are due by the May Chapter Meeting.
  • 15 Regular service hours are anything you do that helps the community or other individuals without compensation. Examples include tutoring before and after school, volunteering at your church, mission trips.
  • You may not record more than 10 hours per service project.
  • 5 Chapter hours are obtained through United Way of Hood county and partner organizations. Other chapter hour opportunities will be announced throughout the year.
  • NO service hours may be obtained within the normal school day unless pre-approval is obtained by an NHS advisor.  
 
If service hour requirements are not met, penalty hours will be assigned accordingly
