At last night’s March 2026 Granbury ISD Board Meeting, we were proud to recognize several outstanding students and staff for their incredible accomplishments and dedication.
GMS State Champions in Unified Robotics
We celebrated the Granbury Middle School Unified Robotics State Championship Team, The Robotic Eels led by students Alem Webb, Mateo Alvarez, Mason Collado, and Finn Burton, along with coach Misty Ingmire.
Regeneron Top 300 Scholar
We also recognized Granbury High School senior Shanice Gibson, who was named a Top 300 Scholar in the Regeneron Science Talent Search, an incredible honor that places her among the top young scientists in the nation. Read more: https://www.granburyisd.org/apps/news/article/2150545
State Finalist Swim Team Recognition
Granbury ISD also honored state finalist swimmers Ellie Nelson, Cameron Ward, Bailey McDermott, Carmen Citzler, Autum Stuart, Jett McFerrin, Kyle Brawner, Sean Kim, and Mason Ward, alongside coach Charles Overton.
Shottenkirk Senior of the Month
In addition, Cameron Ward was recognized as the Shottenkirk Senior of the Month. Cameron is a leader on campus who exemplifies dedication, character, and service. He serves as President of the Junior Optimist Club and President of the UIL Social Studies Team, while also competing as a member of the GHS swim team. Cameron plans to pursue a degree in political science or public policy, with McMurry University, Texas A&M University, and Texas Tech University among his top choices. He is exploring the opportunity to also continue his swimming career at college.
Maggie Walton Recognized as Director of Strategic Initiatives
The Board also recognized Maggie Walton following her appointment as Granbury ISD’s Director of Strategic Initiatives. Walton brings 16 years of experience in education and has served Acton Elementary for the past 14 years, including the last four as principal. In her new role, she will help lead the design, coordination, and implementation of districtwide priorities aligned with Granbury ISD’s Strategic Plan and four focus areas: Student Achievement, Human Capital, Culture, and Stewardship of Resources and Facilities.
