March 2026 Board Meeting Achievement Spotlight

At last night’s March 2026 Granbury ISD Board Meeting, we were proud to recognize several outstanding students and staff for their incredible accomplishments and dedication.

Granbury Middle School Board Update
At last night’s Board Meeting, Granbury Middle School Principal Julie Rohleder, along with Assistant Principals Dr. Ben Sherley, Tiffany Biggs, and Kelly Eppler, shared an inside look at the great things happening at GMS and the intentional work taking place to support students both academically and personally.
 
The following GMS Students on the Unified Robotics Team helped present the pledges at the meeting: Alem Webb, Mateo Alvarez, Mason Collado and Finn Burton.

Granbury Middle School is focused on being intentional in supporting every student, helping students make academic progress, close learning gaps, and grow in a campus culture where they are challenged, encouraged, and supported.
 
An Intentional Focus on Academic Growth
GMS shared how the campus is working to support every learner through purposeful instruction, targeted interventions, and a commitment to helping students continue making strong academic progress. The focus remains on meeting students where they are and helping them move forward with confidence.
 
Supporting the Whole Student
In addition to academics, GMS continues creating an environment where students feel connected, valued, and supported. Through strong relationships, campus leadership, and daily encouragement, the GMS team is working to help every student succeed.

From the classroom to campus life, Granbury Middle School continues to build momentum through the hard work of students, staff, and families. Their presentation reflected a campus committed to growth, excellence, and doing what it takes to help students thrive.

GMS State Champions in Unified Robotics
We celebrated the Granbury Middle School Unified Robotics State Championship Team, The Robotic Eels  led by students Alem Webb, Mateo Alvarez, Mason Collado, and Finn Burton, along with coach Misty Ingmire.

Regeneron Top 300 Scholar
We also recognized Granbury High School senior Shanice Gibson, who was named a Top 300 Scholar in the Regeneron Science Talent Search, an incredible honor that places her among the top young scientists in the nation. Read more: https://www.granburyisd.org/apps/news/article/2150545

State Finalist Swim Team Recognition
Granbury ISD also honored state finalist swimmers Ellie Nelson, Cameron Ward, Bailey McDermott, Carmen Citzler, Autum Stuart, Jett McFerrin, Kyle Brawner, Sean Kim, and Mason Ward, alongside coach Charles Overton.

Shottenkirk Senior of the Month
In addition, Cameron Ward was recognized as the Shottenkirk Senior of the Month. Cameron is a leader on campus who exemplifies dedication, character, and service. He serves as President of the Junior Optimist Club and President of the UIL Social Studies Team, while also competing as a member of the GHS swim team. Cameron plans to pursue a degree in political science or public policy, with McMurry University, Texas A&M University, and Texas Tech University among his top choices. He is exploring the opportunity to also continue his swimming career at college.

Maggie Walton Recognized as Director of Strategic Initiatives

The Board also recognized Maggie Walton following her appointment as Granbury ISD’s Director of Strategic Initiatives. Walton brings 16 years of experience in education and has served Acton Elementary for the past 14 years, including the last four as principal. In her new role, she will help lead the design, coordination, and implementation of districtwide priorities aligned with Granbury ISD’s Strategic Plan and four focus areas: Student Achievement, Human Capital, Culture, and Stewardship of Resources and Facilities.
