Granbury High School Board Update
Granbury High School principal Duane Fish, associate principal Stefanie McKethan, and assistant principal Brenda Pickett, shared an inside look at the incredible work happening on campus, all centered around one mission: empowering Every Pirate to succeed.
GHS at a Glance:
Granbury High School currently serves over 2,200 students with the support of 154 dedicated teachers, reflecting a diverse and dynamic student body and a strong commitment to meeting students where they are.
Be Involved:
Student engagement is thriving, with 1,876 students participating in 39 clubs and activities. From MCJROTC national recognitions and All-State fine arts honors to state-level athletics and national performance invitations for band and choir, Pirates are finding their place to belong and lead.
Work Hard:
Academics remains a top priority at GHS, with 84% of 2025 seniors graduating from GHS college, career, or military ready. Career and technical education continues to thrive, with 2,073 students enrolled in CTE programs, representing 94% of the student body.
Students are also taking advantage of advanced coursework opportunities, with 254 students enrolled in dual credit and 473 students taking AP courses this year.
GHS is also celebrating national academic recognition, including two National Merit Commended Scholars, several AP Scholars with Honors and Distinction, and a student named a Top 300 international science scholar.
Be Kind:
Granbury High School continues strengthening relationships through Capturing Kids’ Hearts, student leadership opportunities, community service projects, and intentional efforts to create a campus culture built on respect, belonging, and support. Student and family feedback shows strong connections with teachers and a positive school experience overall.

GHS MCJROTC Student Recognition
Granbury Marine Corp JROTC presented the colors and LtCol Scott Casey also recognized Mataya Turner, who set a national rifle record, and Viola Allen, who received a bronze medal at the 2025 USA Shooting Winter Air Gun Championship.
Shottenkirk Senior of the Month: Arthur Vilela Luvizari
Arthur was born in Brazil and moved to the United States at the age of nine. He relocated to Granbury in 2023 and is an active member of the Granbury High School Junior Optimist Club, as well as the Pirate Football and Powerlifting teams.
Arthur plans to attend Texas Tech University to study computer science and pursue a career in cybersecurity. His involvement, work ethic, and clear sense of purpose make him an outstanding representative of Granbury High School.
Mambrino announces new assistant principal
STEAM Academy at Mambrino assistant principal Jessica Johnson announced her retirement and the board approved the hiring of Meredith Payne as the new assistant principal.
