December 2025 Board Meeting Achievement Spotlights

At last night’s December board meeting, the following presentations were recognized during Achievement Spotlights.

Oak Woods principal Chelsey Gibson and assistant principal Nathan Daniels shared a campus update with the board while also highlighting the incredible academic growth and campus culture.

Oak Woods at a Glance:
Oak Woods is supported by a dedicated team celebrating a legacy of academic achievement, with 56 total staff members, decades of combined experience, and a strong culture of retention and commitment to students.

Academic Excellence:
Academically, Oak Woods continues to excell. The campus earned an A rating, reflecting strong student performance, intentional instruction, and a consistent focus on growth for every learner. The academic data shared highlighted both high expectations and thoughtful support in place to help students succeed.

Campus Culture & CKH:
As a Capturing Kids’ Hearts Rising Star Campus, Oak Woods focuses on relationships first through Leadworthy character lessons, social contracts, classroom ambassadors, monthly character focuses, and a principal-student advisory process that gives students a voice.

Student Engagement:
From UIL competitions and musical performances to Oak Loops, talent shows, and campus celebrations, Oak Woods students are encouraged to shine in academics, the arts, and leadership opportunities.

Community Connections:
Oak Woods proudly partners with organizations like Joseph’s Locker, Mission Granbury, CASA, Disabled American Veterans, and the Senior Citizens Center, reinforcing the importance of service, compassion, and community involvement.

OWS Student Leaders:
A special shoutout to the Oak Woods Student Council leaders, led by Niki Hunt, who proudly helped showcase their campus at the meeting and also performed the Pledges: Tate Marion, Lily Noh, Davis Moore and Emma Frederick.

Each month, a Granbury ISD campus will present an update to the board. Granbury ISD is proud of the amazing work happening at Mambrino and across the district!

These outstanding student-athletes were presented by Coach Des Shahan and Coach Kayla Overton, whose leadership continues a long tradition of excellence both on the court and in the classroom.

A heartfelt thank you to the Brawner Elementary teachers and staff who came out to support Remi Chastain, daughter of beloved educator Sonja Chastain, at the meeting.

Shottenkirk Senior of the Month: Mamie Moore

Mamie Moore is a proud Granbury Pirate that has had the honor of attending Granbury schools her whole academic career starting at Oak Woods, followed by Acton Middle School and currently at Granbury High School. Mamie has been a part of the Lady Pirate Soccer team since her freshman year and has served as team captain her sophomore and junior year. In addition to her dedication to her sport, she is also dedicated to academics. Mamie is a member of the National Honor Society and is also in the top 10% of her class. She has also participated in Student Leadership Council and Junior Optimist Club. Mamie loves to volunteer and each summer she helps with Vacation Bible School leading groups of students. This past summer she went on a mission trip to Queens, New York and volunteered with an ESL community outreach center. She currently works at Babes restaurant and loves the interactions she has with the customers she serves. Mamie has been accepted and plans to attend the University of Arkansas after graduation. She is hoping to study hospitality and is so excited for her future.
