Allison Dafoe, a senior at Granbury High School, was recently named the WFAA Scholar-Athlete of the Week by Dallas sportscaster Joe Trahan.
Dafoe is a two-sport athlete, playing softball and basketball for the Lady Pirates. She is a softball team captain and was named the District 5-5A Co-Pitcher of the Year in 2022 and second team all-district in 2023. She’s also been nominated as the Fort Worth Star-Telegram’s Player of the Week.
Dafoe has excelled in the classroom as well. She’s currently ranked 7th in her class and is a member of the National Honor Society (NHS), Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA), and Workforce Industry Training (WIT). Dafoe has earned academic all-district awards three times in softball (2021-23). She also volunteers at Mission Granbury. She plans to attend college and major in Pre-Med or Biology.
A segment featuring Dafoe will broadcast on Sunday, November 19 at 10:30 p.m. during “Sports Special with Joe Trahan,” which airs on WFAA Channel 8 on Sunday nights following the 10:00 P.M. newscast.
The program, which is sponsored by Buick/GMC, recognizes North Texas high school seniors who have excelled in academics and athletics as well as contribute to making their community a better place to live. Nominees must be a senior who is in the top 15% of their class.
